Questions
What is the Capital Stewardship Campaign?
It is a church wide effort that seeks financial commitments from congregation members, constituents and friends to be used in paying for a major project. In our case: the central stairwell renovation; parlor and sanctuary improvements; and, replacing the boiler.
What Is A Commitment Card?
A commitment card helps the church to understand what kinds of gifts to expect and when to expect them. By completing this card you allow the church to move forward with a thoughtful, wise financial plan.
Will I be pressured to make a commitment?
No. Participation in the campaign and how much you give will be entirely up to you. Everyone who attends Laurel will be given the opportunity to contribute if they wish to do so. We are asking everyone to prayerfully consider, "What is God asking me to do?"
How long will this campaign last?
We are asking for a 3-year commitment. You decide your personal giving schedule - weekly,
monthly, quarterly, one time gifts or asset transfers, or another schedule of your choice. Decide on a plan that works for you; then, help the church understand your giving plan.
When do I begin giving?
You may begin to give to this capital campaign at any time. On Sunday, June 6, we will make an announcement of the total gifts received to date. Also on June 6, we will receive a "First Fruits" offering.
What if my circumstances change after I have made a commitment?
A commitment card is a statement of intent, not a contract. If your financial circumstances change significantly, your giving may also change. Simply contact the church to adjust your commitment - letting the church know about the change (increase, decrease, or timing) in your giving.
How may I prepare to participate?
Pray. Ask God what He wants you to do and for direction regarding your participation. Read Scripture passages that speak about stewardship and giving, such as 1 Corinthians 16:2, 2 Corinthians 8:7, Acts 20:35, Luke 6:38, Proverbs 3:5-9 & 11:25 and Psalm 116:12.
What forms of contributions will be accepted?
Contributions can be made by cash or check. Other forms of contributions can include the transference of title to marketable stocks, bonds, real estate, etc. Please contact us if you have any questions.
When do make our commitment and in what way?
Commitments will be made on May 16th. The commitment totals will be announced on June 6th and we'll receive a "First Fruits" offering. This will mark the beginning of the 3-year commitment period. Contributions can be made by cash, check, EFT or asset transfers.
